status change.

I interrupt your regularly scheduled “adventures” programing for this week’s blog. Jay and I have some exciting (and unexpected) news. We’re getting married! I know, I know, we’ve been talking about this for a while, but I had no idea the proposal was happening the day that it did. The story:

Clue 1: On Tuesday, I got my nails done because they were cracking, and I needed to get them done anyway before Sarah’s wedding. When I told Jay, his response was “good.” If you know Jay than you’d know this was a strange response, but I brushed it off.

Clue 2: Jay was super “lovely” on Friday. I made a comment about it because I’m…well…not. It’s not my primary love language (giving – gifts, getting – acts of service 😉 ) But again I brushed this off.

On Saturday morning I woke up early and headed to an 8-hour shift. I didn’t wear makeup or put any thought into my hair because I was tired. At 5:15pm I rolled home, took a short nap, and changed. I put on the super glamorous outfit of: Nike Tempo Shorts, Lady Gang hair scrunchy, Chacos, Always More sweatshirt, and still no makeup. Yup, the perfect look.

Clue 3: Jay was super adamant that we go to dinner at 6pm. Usually we’re pretty loose with our plans unless we’re under a time crunch, but he was adamant, so I just blushed it off.

Clue 4: Jay had shaved and cleaned up. Usually he only does this for nicer occasions, but still I brushed it off.

Clue 5: After I put on my glamorous look complete with hair scrunchy, Jay put on a button-down shirt. I said, “Why are you wearing a button-down to Outback?” He said, “it might be cold in there.” And still I brushed it off.

Clue 6: When we finally got to dinner I was so tired I could barely keep my head up. I was doing all I could to eat quickly so I could go home and lay down. I got a bit upset with Jay because he was eating so slowly. I said, “I finished my meal 10 minutes ago.” Poor guy was buying time.

When we finally got to the apartment complex I stopped to get my mail and then he drove slowly to the building.

Clue 6: The parking lot. Jay parked in a super weird spot on a side of the lot that we never use so I was confused but brushed it off. As soon as I got out of the car I saw my friend, Erika’s car. I thought “hmmm that’s weird”. Then I saw my friend Charyse’s car and I knew something was up but wasn’t sure what. Then I opened the front door…

Yes, I said yes while still holding my mail. No one told me to put it down and I was in shock. The video is pretty hilarious. After this, Erika and Charyse pushed me into my room, so I could put on a dress and makeup for pictures. Within minutes a bunch of my other friends: Joanne, Phill, Elliyah, Nisha & Dan appeared in my living room. The whole 10 minutes was a whirlwind. I was so excited and shocked all at the same time.

I know the pictures are a bit small, but I’ll put them on other social media. After celebrating with sprinklers and champagne, we went to a cool bar in Atlanta called The Lawrence, to cap off the night.

Next week I’ll be back with my recap of my trip to Arkansas, currently I’m still in Little Rock. Have a good week!

Perhaps you hate engagements. Perhaps you love proposals. You do you, boo.

Best,

michelle.
