Since the start of the year I’ve been binging the show Reign on Netflix. It chronicles the life of Mary Queen of Scotland during the 1500s. The show is four seasons long and originally aired on The CW from 2013 – 2017. Originally my boyfriend’s sister recommended the show to me over Christmas break and I was instantly hooked.
I loved this show and actually felt like I learned a lot. Although many of the smaller story lines are fantasy, the main characters and the plot arches are all based on what really happened. During the duration of my binge, I started researching the real lives of the historical characters.
For example, Mary became queen at 8 days old because her father was assassinated. She then married the King of France until his death. Afterward, she returned to Scotland to rule, got married, and had a baby that later became king of Scotland and England. He was the first King to unite the nations of Scotland and England.

Even if you don’t like history all that much, if you like the teen drama type shows, you’ll like it. It’s similar to Riverdale and The Flash, but with a historical twist. 5 out of 5 stars. Happy Viewing!
Perhaps you hate tv? Perhaps you hate monarchies? You do you, boo.
